Arsenal have officially reached out to Victor Osimhen’s camp, with reports suggesting that the Gunners are willing to trigger his release clause as they intensify their search for a top-class striker. The Nigerian forward has long been admired across Europe, and his potential arrival at the Emirates could provide the firepower Mikel Arteta’s side desperately needs.
According to Nigerian journalist Buchi Laba, Arsenal’s interest in Osimhen has progressed significantly. The club is exploring alternatives to Martin Zubimendi, with the Napoli striker now emerging as a priority target for the summer transfer window.

Arsenal’s need for a reliable goalscorer has been glaringly obvious this season. Despite a strong squad, the club lacks a clinical striker capable of leading the line consistently.
Gabriel Jesus has struggled with injuries and has been inconsistent in front of goal.
Kai Havertz, while effective in certain roles, has not proven to be a natural No.9.
Eddie Nketiah has failed to convince as a long-term option.
Osimhen, on the other hand, is widely regarded as one of the best strikers in the world. His combination of pace, power, and finishing ability makes him an ideal fit for Arsenal’s attack.
Last season, the Napoli forward netted 26 goals in Serie A, playing a key role in the club’s first league title win in over 30 years. His relentless work rate and ability to stretch defenses align well with Arteta’s tactical philosophy.
Competition for Osimhen: Man United & Chelsea in the Race

Arsenal are not the only club interested in securing Osimhen’s signature. Manchester United and Chelsea are both monitoring the Nigerian international and are prepared to make moves this summer.
Manchester United are reportedly so keen on Osimhen that they are considering including Rasmus Højlund in a swap deal with Napoli instead of activating his €75 million (£62m, $78m) release clause.
Chelsea have been linked with Osimhen for months, with owner Todd Boehly eager to bring in a marquee striker to solve their attacking struggles.
Despite strong competition, Arsenal appear to have taken a step forward by making direct contact with the player’s representatives.
Buchi Laba Confirms Arsenal’s Intentions

According to Buchi Laba, Arsenal’s pursuit of a striker is already well underway. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), he revealed:
“Exclusive: Arsenal finalizes plans for striker option in Dubai. – Sesko: AFC and Leipzig agreed on a deal last season, but he decided to stay. – Victor Osimhen: Arsenal officially made contact with Osimhen’s camp last week. They’re prepared to trigger the new release clause. The plan is to sign one.”
This suggests that Osimhen is one of Arsenal’s top targets, alongside Benjamin Šeško, who opted to remain at RB Leipzig last season despite strong interest from the North London club.
Can Arsenal Afford Osimhen?

Triggering Osimhen’s release clause would require Arsenal to spend at least £62 million, making him one of their most expensive signings ever.
Financially, the Gunners are in a strong position following back-to-back Champions League qualifications. However, investing such a significant amount in one player means that the club must carefully manage its summer transfer strategy.
Arsenal’s recruitment team will need to weigh the benefits of signing Osimhen against their other priorities, including midfield reinforcements and squad depth.
What Next for Arsenal?
With the summer transfer window fast approaching, Arsenal must decide:
Will they push ahead with signing Osimhen and activate his release clause?
Can they fend off competition from Man United and Chelsea?
Will they explore other options, such as Benjamin Šeško?
Osimhen’s arrival would undoubtedly transform Arsenal’s attack, but the battle for his signature is far from over. The next few months will be crucial as Arteta and sporting director Edu Gaspar work to finalize their summer plans.
